Fotogear India-1On this journey through Rajasthan I packed quite a lot of equipment. To name the major items:
D300s with the 17-55mm f2.8 lens,
D70s with the 70-300 f3.5-5.6 lens,
Samyang 8mm f3.5 lens and a
SB-800 flash

I am happy to say that I made good use of all items. Both cameras I used simultaneously, giving me the flexibility to switch quickly between focal lengths. I especially learned to use the tele lens for portraits.

I attended a wedding in Delhi, and having the tele lens at hand proved to be very convenient. People don’t realize they are being photographed when you are a few more meters away. This enables one to shoot natural expressions and photos with caracter. Nothing against arranged portraits, don’t get me wrong. But such pictures taken on parties tend to have that “Oh look, a camera- let’s smile as if there is no tomorrow” – look.

The 70-300 Nikkor also proves to be quite sharp at around 200mm ! I can’t show you the pictures yet since I am on the road, blogging from the iPhone. Samples will follow.

Bottom line of this post: Everything was worth carrying and by taking two bodies at once I could broaden my photographic horizon. Therefore:

Je ne regrette rien.
